Mouth Culture

There was no better way to start the third morning than to go and see Mouth Culture, an up and coming band that are certainly well worth keeping an eye on. They bring energy to the stage that is unmatchable and this performance at 2000 Trees was no exception. Having seen them live a few times, including their recent tour with The Blackout, I knew it was going to be a well attended performance. The Axiom was packed despite the early start proving just how loved the band is. The crowd was bouncing to every beat and was the perfect band to get the day started.

Sløtface

I then headed over to the Main Stage to catch Sløtface, a band I hadn't heard of prior but definitely will be listening too after that performance. The Norwegian pop punk band brought everything to the stage, from catchy riffs to punchy lyrics. Haley and the band looked comfortable on the big stage, making it look like they truly belonged.

Crawlers

I then had the pleasure of finally seeing Crawlers live. They’re a band that have been on my “to see” list for a while so I was heavily anticipating their set. Despite their 30 minute delay due to losing a van wheel on the M6, front woman Holly came out with a bang. They told us all about their traumatic morning and how they wouldn’t have missed the festival and their devoted fans for the world. Her fellow band members seemed, unsurprisingly, a little shaken up, but Holly made sure it went as unnoticed as possible by keeping the crowd captivated with their raunchy moves. Crawlers are yet another band that are destined for big things.

Nova Twins

Nova Twins then had big shoes to fill after that performance and wow, did they fill them! I’ve already mentioned that 2000trees have evidently tried to be as representative as possible and Nova Twins are the perfect advocates. Their set was a perfect blend of rap, rock, pop and punk, wrapping it up on top of their crowd. The duo crowd surfed while blasting the outro to “Choose Your Fighter”.

Grandson

Next to take to the Main Stage was hip hop artist, Grandson. He’d already made a statement before even entering the stage, with his backdrop being Donald Trump kissing Joe Biden. Throughout his set, he showed us how humble and genuine he is as a performer, educating the crowd on how he battled through his addiction to make it to where he is today. Everyone in the crowd was prompted to turn to either side to show their fellow crowd mates some love and affection before he waved an inflatable alien at everyone during “Bury Me Face Down”.

Bob Vylan

“Welcome to Vylanfest”. Bob Vylan is one of the most consistent performers on the 2000 Trees bill and yet every single time, he absolutely nails it. Beginning his set with his classical warm up, the crowd was ready and raring for what the next 50 minutes was to bring. As mentioned earlier, Bob Vylan made sure to bring his own form of representation to the festival, with a Palestinian flag hanging solemnly behind him. That didn’t stop the fun though as he brought his own daughter out onto the stage. When asked what she wanted to say to the crowd, she shouted “Let’s fucking go!” before the pair jumped into the crowd and rode their way to the sound desk and back. Bob Vylan may be a controversial act to have at a festival but they sure know how to bring the party.

Hot Milk

Another band that certainly knows how to bring the party is Manchester pair, Hot Milk. They nipped back over to their homeland for the festival despite being on a run of shows in America supporting the likes of Foo Fighters and Blink-182. Lead vocalist Han Mee has energy levels that can't be beat, constantly bouncing from left to right throughout the whole set leading her to eventually drench herself in water to keep cool. Jim hit us with catchy riffs, occasionally climbing upon the amps that were safely stored in the pit. The pair closed their set with “Glass Spiders” which the crowd roared back to them at every single chorus.

As one of my busiest days at the festival, I was ready for the following day where I had a slightly more laidback approach to the acts I wanted to see. 2000 Trees was already lining up to be one of my favourite festivals of the year so far.
